Walk-in Clinic
Illnesses or injuries don’t just happen during regular business hours. That’s why Grace has the Walk-In Clinic, located inside Grace Clinic®. Our doctors are available to provide quality care when you need it.
The highly-experienced doctors who work in the Walk-In Clinic are part of Grace Health System®’s Primary Care Center. Many of them have been with Grace since we first opened. There are also several nurse practitioners who see patients as part of the Clinic as well. If you prefer to see a doctor instead of a nurse practitioner, you can let the front desk know when you check in. At the end of your exam, the doctor will forward information to your regular primary care physician, at your request. If you need to schedule a follow-up visit with your regular doctor, we’ll be happy to help you.
Once you arrive at the Clinic, a greeter at the front podium will direct you to the tablets where you’ll check in with your patient information. The greeter will give you a form to fill out about the reason you need to see a doctor. After a short wait, you’ll be called to the check-in desk. This is where you’ll show your insurance information and pay any necessary co-pay.
After paying, you’ll be directed to the waiting area for the Walk-In Clinic. Your name will show up on a TV screen telling you how many patients, if any, are ahead of you, and how long you can expect to wait before you get into the exam room. When it’s your time, a patient coordinator will escort you to another waiting area just outside the exam room.
Once a nurse calls you into the exam room, he or she will start collecting information about you starting with your weight. The nurse will ask you the symptoms or condition that brought you to the Clinic, as they take your blood pressure, pulse and temperature. Be sure to be very thorough about your symptoms you’re experiencing, including how long you’ve had them, and just how bad they’ve been. The nurse will type everything you tell them into the computer for the doctor. After the nurse leaves the room, the doctor will come in and will focus on your immediate health needs from what you told the nurse. The doctor will also ask you about the condition. You can expect the doctor to give you plenty of time to voice your questions or concerns about your condition and treatment options.
If your doctor orders any imaging or lab tests done as part of your examination, you can have it conveniently done at our Imaging Center and lab, which are located on the first floor.
Before arriving at the Clinic, you need to bring some key information with you. That includes your picture ID, your insurance card, and the patient’s social security number. You’ll also need to know the birthday and social security number of the person responsible for payment (spouse, parent, etc). Your doctor will also need a complete list of medications the patient is taking, including over-the-counter products. If available, you’re also asked to bring any copies of medical records related to the current condition.
