History

Grace Health System® started in 2006 as Grace Clinic® with just eight doctors on staff. In less than a decade, we have grown to more than 50 doctors and other specialists who offer compassionate care to people from all over the region.

In 2009, Grace Health System® expanded its operations with the acquisition of the 123-bed Doctor’s Hospital (formerly known as Highland Hospital) at 50th and University, renaming it Grace Medical Center®. With the new addition, Grace transformed into an innovative two-campus health facility, conveniently located for easy access to serve the health care needs of our patients.

Grace Health System® joined Covenant Health to create the most clinically-integrated health network in Lubbock, West Texas and eastern New Mexico. Together, we are able to deliver more effective care to our community by providing greater access to services, physicians and innovation in the delivery of health care.

The growth of Grace doesn’t end there. Since 2012, we have upgraded the in-house Pharmacy, opened a new cardiac imaging center, and added 15 new doctors’ offices on the second floor. We are also changing the region’s medical landscape with plans to open a new 350,000 square-foot hospital. In addition, we are planning for the future of medicine with the launch of a new telemedicine program to reach chronically ill patients in rural communities in Texas and New Mexico.
